MEL O'CALLAGHAN

CASSANDRA BIRD is delighted to share that Mel O’Callaghan will present First Sound, Last Sound at Mudam Luxembourg in November 2027.

Exploring the relationship between sound, resonance and the human body, First Sound, Last Sound brings together monumental steel tuning forks, a wooden resonance chamber and live performance.

Tuned to 256 Hz, the steel tuning forks create vibrations that resonate through the body, inviting participants to experience sound beyond hearing. Through collective performance, the work explores physical sensation, connection and the relationship between the human body and the natural world.

Previously presented at Carriageworks, Sydney, and Govett-Brewster Art Gallery / Len Lye Centre, New Zealand, the work reflects O’Callaghan’s ongoing exploration of endurance, transformation and shared experience.
