Janet Laurence, has been selected as an exhibiting artist for the Goulbourn Regional Art Gallery's upcoming exhibition titled 'Horizons'.
Horizons is a thought-provoking group exhibition presenting the work of nine artists who explore the complex interplay between the human body, the natural world, and built environments. Spanning a wide range of media—including ceramics, audiovisual pieces, photography, painting, and installation—the exhibition features works by Gemma Brown, Rowan Conroy, Marian Drew, Lizzie Hall, Bianca Hester, Janet Laurence, Guido Maestri, Mandy Quadrio, and Isadora Vaughan. Together, their works examine human impact on nature, reflecting on past instances of environmental disruption, engaging with current ecological concerns, and imagining potential futures.
The exhibition delves into the relationships between the body, the natural world, and the built environment. The concept of "horizons" evokes both possibility and uncertainty—suggesting openness, hope, and potential, while also implying limits, the unknown, or caution. This exhibition embraces the full spectrum of these meanings, exploring our yearning to connect with the environment alongside the recognition of the physical, digital, and psychological barriers that separate us from it.
Exhibiting from 6 June - 9 August 2025.
