Booth I13
CASSANDRA BIRD is delightled to present a duo artist presentation this year at Art Paris, exhibiting new work by internationally acclaimed Australian artist Janet Laurence alongside emerging First Nations artist Juanita McLauchlan.
This presentation in our booth stages a vital intergenerational dialogue between two artists whose practices are deeply grounded in place, memory, and ecological consciousness. Laurence, known for her immersive installations and staging of scientific materiality, brings a longstanding inquiry into environmental fragility, regeneration, and the poetics of care. McLauchlan offers a powerful and grounded voice as a First Nations artist whose work draws from cultural knowledge systems, lived experience, and an intimate relationship to Country and ancestry. Her practice, rooted in sculpture, found materials, and printmaking, speaks to the endurance of cultural memory, ancestral presence, and healing.
Together, Laurence and McLauchlan create a space for layered reflection on land and legacy, holding space for parallel ways of seeing and knowing: Laurence’s materially rich installations that meditate on ecological interconnectedness; and McLauchlan’s works that carry the authority of ancestral ties and embodied storytelling. This presentation becomes a site of witnessing a place for healing, reimagining futures, and honouring the sovereignty of both nature and culture.
